The Valerie Marie Greenhouse was built in 2021 as a natural-light photography studio by me, Melody, and my dad, Ray. From the beginning, he has been right here—helping care for, maintain, and grow this special space.
And now… we’re outgrowing it in the best way.
In Spring 2026, the greenhouse will expand to include a plant nursery, offering a thoughtfully curated selection of indoor plants, along with a few outdoor favorites. What began as a place to capture memories is growing into a space where beauty, creativity, and life continue to flourish.

Our Story
Who is valerie marie?
Hi, I'm Melody! I am a fellow San Antonio family photographer, and the owner of The Valerie Marie Greenhouse & Plant Nursery. My dad, Ray, is the Operations Manager aka "Dad-In-Chief" aka The Guy Who Keeps Everything Alive. If you have plant questions, he's the guy to talk to!
We first built the greenhouse at the end of 2021 so I could use for photography. We quickly realized we could share the beauty of this space and opened it to rentals in 2022.
Then in 2025, not only were we outgrowing with plants, but we also felt called to step out in faith and open the plant nursery.
The greenhouse is named in memory of my sister, Valerie Marie, who passed away as a baby. Valerie means valiant or “showing courage or determination.” Infant loss — as with any loss — is so difficult, and with God’s help, mothers exhibit much courage, bravery and strength when we go through loss.
My prayer is that this space — with its stunning sunlight and lively plant life — will be a space that brings renewed hope in the midst of hardship that only comes from God.
